Free Download Film Arabic! The one thing I love about moving into Los Angeles could be the number of revival houses and single screen theatres you can still go to. I'm not talking about your multiplexes which are playing the most up-to-date Hollywood blockbusters, I'm talking about those historic theatres that play in the classic movies we loved watching whenever we were maturing. Many of these films we first watched in the news or rented them on VHS from my local video stores (back when they existed), but we never reached see them about the big screen where they belonged. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
This musical comedy horror cult classic which stars Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick along with the great Tim Curry as a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" may be the longest-running midnight movie ever. Thirty-eight years after "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" came out, it is still playing in limited release and midnight screenings keep going on all over America. However, you've not lived until you have seen this movie on the Nuart Theatre in Santa Monica where audience members can dress up as their superheroes and talk to the screen you might say they couldn't if the were another movie. Fans on the Nuart will also get treated to your live performance from Sins O' The Flesh, a small grouping of actors that perform combined with movie every Saturday night. You can always rely on having a most fantastic time once you watch this movie on the Nuart!
"The Room"
The 2003 romantic drama which has been written, produced, directed and stars Tommy "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!" Wiseau continues to be called one of the worst films ever made, along with the fans still can't get enough of it. "The Room" will continue to sell out midnight screenings in the Regent Theatre in Los Angeles, and you can always rely on Wiseau being there to accomplish a Q&A session with all the fans. Audience members come dressed as their most favorite characters, one scene has them throwing plastic spoons in the screen, they will toss footballs to each other during the movie, and they also yell out insults in regards to the undeniably low quality of the film. There are so many things wrong with "The Room," but it is so great to watch having an audience.
"The Big Lebowski"
Joel and Ethan Coen followed up their masterpiece "Fargo" using this dark comedy starring Jeff Bridges as Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski. The movie would have been a box office disappointment, but it has since garnered one of the biggest and strangest cult followings of any movie ever made due to the main character's unapologetically relaxed attitude. Screenings of "The Big Lebowski" can be found at various Los Angeles movie theatres, however the real treat for fans occurs when the Lebowski Fest relates to town. The recent Lebowski Fest held on the Saban Theater and Fountain Bowl featured per night of unlimited bowling along with various trivia contests. There was obviously any good performance by The Kyle Gass Band which featured an exclusive guest appearance by Jack Black as Evil Elvis. Oh yeah, they did show the movie there too.
"Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"
What "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is usually to the Nuart Theatre, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" has become to New Beverly Cinema. The still standing Los Angeles repertory revival house was the first one to show Edgar Wright's film after the end of their theatrical run, and possesses since used up a permanent midnight residence alongside "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction." Every Los Angeles screening I have experienced of John Carpenter's martial arts training comedy has always resulted in a soldout audience. Thanks to home video, "Big Trouble in Little China" gained a huge cult following, and audiences find it irresistible today in a way that you wished they did back when it first arrived. It's a real kick to view this film with an audience because they are in hysterics over Kurt Russell delivering his dialogue with an unapologetic John Wayne swagger, and we have long since accepted the truth that his character of Jack Burton is a bit more of a blowhard than the usual hero. It doesn't matter how many times you have experienced this movie; "Big Trouble in Little China" continues to be a blast to see through.
